Translate Me Choral Challenge

Translate Me Choral Challenge is a challenge that promotes the Nigerian unity in our diversity while using the common unifying factor of devotion to Nigeria, which is the National Anthem-stanza 1 & 2 and Pledge.

It is a compatriot’s call from the team “HIYA NIGERIA” to fellow citizens with the aim of awakening the minds of All Nigerian Citizens Home and Diaspora together as one, to reflect and replay the great excitement of October 1st, 1960, the communal unity and oneness that encapsulated all citizens 61 years ago.

This year Choral Challenge aims to address the following:

Never connected and intentionally disconnected citizens

Once Connected but presently disconnected citizens

The program is a collaboration with relevant stakeholders and partners.

# Who can Participate?

The Translate Me Challenge is expected to be a translation of the National Anthem stanza 1 & 2 and the pledge into their local language. This task can be carried out by families, groups, individuals, or communities. While the translated piece will be assigned for choral performance by students of primary and secondary schools from both government and private schools across Nigeria and outside Nigeria i.e Primary & Secondary Schools: UBEC/SEB/NAPPS in the 36 States and FCT, Informal and Religious Education Centers, Group of Students in equivalent school grade in Diaspora.

# Selection Process?

The top 3 entries of group tasks with the highest votes will be reviewed and screened by linguists, voice-over/diction experts, and musicologists. This will also be screened and judged by music and diction experts.

# What is the Task?

The competition is classified into different categories, participants are expected to carry out a task that is assigned under their registered categories. It is also required that participants must have good diction and command of the language/dialects to be performed.

THE PARTICIPATION GROUPS

Participation is categorized on 2 groups X and Y. Below is a brief description of the groups. You can choose the group you belong and get started. A, B and C are tagged as National Anthem – Stanza 1 (A), National Prayer – Stanza 2 (B), National Pledge (C) respectively.

GROUP X & Z (SCHOOLS ONLY)

Participants are expected to do a musical performance of the task in indigenous languages. Musical performance must-have vocal strength in Treble (Soprano), Alto, Tenor, and Bass.

GROUP Y (FAMILIES and COMMUNITIES)

Translate A, B and C to your indigenous language/dialect, sing A and B, then recite C and upload. Materials to be translated not more than the lines as on the original script on the portal and voiced into your indigenous communication “CODE” (indigenous Language/Dialect)

TRANSLATE ME CHALLENGE (FAMILY OR COMMUNITIES ONLY)

Participants are expected to translate the task (see activities below). The “Translate Me” entry is to be done in WORD Document, after which the translated task is recorded into audio-visual (video) recitation of the text.

KINDLY NOTE: The accumulation of votes and views collated from your uploaded video will determine if your entry will be selected for performance during the grand finale and your appearance on the web stage in 2022.

Translate the National Anthem, Prayer, and Pledge in WORD Document.
Make an Audio Visual

Recite step 1 by making an audio-visual (Video) version of the exact text in MPEG 4 or mp4 compressed version.
Upload the Item

Uploaded the video on the Translate Me portal.

Video Naming

The video should be named after the Family or Community, same as the language to be translated
Group Picture

Upload the group picture of the participants.
Voting Code

Now, Submit and wait for the voting code. You should get it via Email or Phone

Poetry or Eulogy

a Poetry or Eulogy recitation or rendition to be recorded into an audio-visual (video)

Video Naming

The video should be named after the Family or Community, same as the language to be translated
